All images on these scarves are developed based on actual photographs taken of the students’ learning process. The schools we open in these villages are often the first form of formal education. Within months of learning, students go from not knowing the alphabet to reading and writing in their local language and Bahasa Indonesia. They also go from only knowing numbers one to three to basic mathematics. How quickly the children learn testifies to the resilience and aptitude of the local Papuan children.
